Whether you’re a fan of the actor or not, his portrayal is undeniably captivating. The character’s towering stature and strong demeanor make him an imposing figure with impeccable muscle tone who can take out dozens of enemies in seconds.

ANALYSIS OF THE SERIES – Lee Child’s iconic character Jack Reacher is better suited to the tiny screen than the big screen.
The concept of a streaming series based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels seems so obvious that you wonder why it took so long – until you remember the ill-fated effort to make the books into a Tom Cruise film franchise. Even if you haven’t read the novels, you’ve definitely heard about the casting dispute that occurred when Cruise was confirmed as Reacher for the big screen. In the novels, the character is described as a 6’5′′ huge muscular behemoth. To put it plainly, Tom Cruise is not. That wouldn’t have mattered as much if the films had been well-received, but neither feedbackers nor moviegoers were pleased, and the series fell apart after a decent first and a terrible second installment.
When it comes to size,
The size of the actor may seem modest to the inexperienced. Reacher, on the other hand, is such a stripped-down, basic figure that removing his towering height would be an unforgivable sin. Reacher’s demeanor embodies the books in which he appears, which are consistently excellent yet based on well-worn tropes. This is not intended as a criticism; many authors would sell their grandmothers to be able to accomplish what Child did with such ease. The Reacher novels make an excellent lectionary since you know exactly what you’re going to receive and are unlikely to be bored.
Reacher is a strong adaption in this regard, and it comes at a wonderful moment for aficionados of classic thrillers. The Amazon Prime Video series is a delightful comfort watch based on a long-running series of novels, with lots of action — but nothing too hard on the good old brain cells. The first season is a direct adaptation of Killing Floor, the first novel in the Jack Reacher series. It doesn’t take long for the guy and his world to be established in the first episode: Jack Reacher (no one calls him by his first name, even his mother) is a former special investigator for the Army Military Police who is now a wanderer with nothing but a toothbrush. He loves the blues, and in the first episode of the series, he gets off a bus in Margrave, Georgia, only to learn that blues musician Blind Blake may have been killed there.
Trouble seeks the one who causes it.
Reacher, like most protagonists in fiction, does not seek out trouble; rather, trouble seeks him out. When he pauses for coffee and peach pie at a cafe, his meal is cut short when he is arrested for murder. (His attempts to get a piece of pie become a recurring humor throughout the season.) A corpse is discovered near where Reacher was last seen getting off the Greyhound bus; when the victim is eventually identified, it turns out to be someone with a close personal tie to Reacher.
The assassination is only the first of many. When Reacher’s name is cleared, he remains in town to figure out who is to blame, much to the disgust of the local cops, especially Boston-based Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) and Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald), a rookie cop with extensive Margrave family links. Despite their initial mistrust, the group finally teams together to uncover a connection between the killings and an international counterfeiting operation operating out of a prominent local business.
A superhero without his or her cape
Nick Santora, a writer-syndicator, didn’t want to disappoint viewers with a mental picture of the main character while adapting Reacher for television. Alan Ritchson, well known for his portrayal as superhero Hawk in HBO’s Max’s Titans, is an obvious choice for the part. He looms over his co-stars, with a massive frame straight out of one of Child’s stories. At first, his acting talents are tough to assess, but his genuine, empathetic demeanor rapidly wins you over.
Reacher has to be humanized since he is a superhero without a costume. He possesses the logical intellect of Sherlock Holmes, yet each episode will have at least one scene in which he knocks up five men who are assaulting him at the same time. Some of the battles are more innovative than others, and narrative twists are predictable, but that’s all part of what makes Reacher work as a pulp book adaptation on television. It’s a basic thriller with an intriguing investigation, lots of action, a good number of twists and turns, and a strong cast, evocative of the 1980s. It won’t change the genre, but there are times when we need a hero and adventure like this.
