Every year, new anime series enter the market with a mind-boggling amount of creativity in their names. Some are genius (more specifically some can be funny), and many others are just plain bizarre. Here are 15 anime characters with the weirdest & funniest names!

The “smart but dumb anime characters” is a list of 15 anime characters with the weirdest and funniest names. The list includes such names as “Goku”, “Sasuke Uchiha”, and “Mikasa Ackermann”.

15 Anime Characters With The Weirdest & Funniest Names –

When we immerse ourselves in an anime, it’s easy to get lost in the world it creates.

Unfortunately, the one sure-fire killer of flow – a character introduced with a name so absurd that you have to rewind to be sure they pronounced it correctly – may occasionally bring that descent to a screeching stop.

That is, indeed, the emphasis of this list. We’re taking a look at some of anime’s oddest, funniest, and simply bizarre character names.

Prepare for some juvenile hilarity, a few puns, and a slew of innuendos (yes, that was done on purpose!).

15. Beautiful Holystone

Nice Holystone from Baccano! anime

Baccano! is an anime series.

I’ll tell you the truth:

Nice Holystone and her beau, the appropriately called Jacuzzi Splot, battled it out for this slot.

Nice’s chances were tilted in her favor by two factors.

To begin with, having a name that sounds like someone complimenting the new holy stone you just purchased amuses me much.

Second, consider the possibility of these two marrying. Suddenly, you have a slim possibility of finding a Jacuzzi Holystone, which is more than the sum of its parts. Or… Splot is excellent.

I believe you can understand why Nice Holystone ended up on the list.

Dick Saucer (#14)

Dick Saucer Dragon Half anime screenshot

Dragon Half-Blood Anime

Stop that chuckling in the corner!

Mr. Saucer has everything going for him except his name. Everyone was lined up to appreciate and respect him because he had the voice of an angel and the fighting skills of a warrior.

What more could you possibly desire?

Given his first and surname names, he could have significantly more conscientious parents…

To his credit, he has avoided the blunder of naming his special attack something even more risqué – it’s called “The Mighty Saucer Special” in the English dub.

I believe there was a 50% possibility it might have been far worse.

Fatman Big (#13)

Fatman Big from Combat Mecha Xabungle

Combat Mecha Xabungle (Anime)

Fatman Big is a minor character, but his great name makes him all the more lovable to me.

And he isn’t even all that overweight. Not to mention that large!

It reminds me of gangster nicknames like “Tiny” for a big hulk of a guy or “Three-Finger Joey” for a man who, for some reason, seems to have no shortage of fingers.

Maybe it’s because he’s dwarfed by the other big mechs. Fatman Big, on the other hand, makes up for his lack of projected girth with a brilliantly hilarious moniker.

Spooky Boogie is number 12 on the list.

Spooky Boogie in Psycho-Pass anime

Psycho-Pass is a Japanese anime series.

Okay, I understand that this name is an avatar name in the universe of Psycho-Pass, thus it may be held to a lower standard as a given name.

But, really, you’re telling me that “Spooky Boogie” didn’t make you giggle every time someone in the program mentioned it?

It certainly did for me!

Spooky Boogie’s real name is “Shoko Sugawara,” although he may not have the rudest or most punny moniker on the list. But it has it covered in terms of being gloriously ridiculous.

11. Bring Stabity with you

Bring Stabity from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is a Japanese anime series.

When I set down to compose this list, I told myself that I wouldn’t make it entirely of Mobile Suit Gundam characters. And let me tell you, keeping that commitment was really difficult.

In the end, I decided to just include a handful, and here is the first of them: Bring Stabity.

Is it possible that the author intended for his last name to be “Stability”?

That would make a lot more sense thematically, given his job as an Innovade.

Unfortunately, he is not “Stability” by name or by nature. That is why he is included on this list. Because, as far as I recall, he also doesn’t stab anybody.

Anubituf is number ten.

Anubituf in Simoun anime

Simoun is a Japanese anime series.

When I see and hear this name, my first thought is “gesundheit.”

Isn’t it merely a sneeze that’s been written down? Is it one of those sneezes when the person shakes their head?

But, just so you know, Anubituf isn’t on our list for that reason.

The true reason is that the smushing together of apparently random letters shouts to me, “I have no idea how to come up with a made-up name in a fantastical context.”

The point I’m trying to make is that this is an odd name.

9. Bibidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-bidi-

Babidi from Dragon Ball Z anime

Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.

“Wait a minute, you’re cheating! That’s three characters!” I can hear you yell.

And yes, I believe that the full breadth of how ridiculous these names are necessitates the inclusion of all three.

While the Buu saga was notorious for its absurdity, it’s the names of these three together (which reference a famous song I’m sure you’re all acquainted with) that truly take the cake.

So when Bibidi and his duplicate/”son” Babidi (just typing this makes me laugh) rouse Buu from his eons-long slumber, you know someone somewhere was ecstatic with their name choices.

Tetsutetsu (number 8) Tetsutetsu

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is an anime series based on the manga My Hero Academia.

Do you have an unusual name?

Try saying it four times fast!

My Hero Academia is back, but this time with a twist. There are lots of silly-sounding hero names, aliases, and even nicknames from the show that I could have selected.

But Tetsutetsu (we’ll call him TT from now on to save time) has the dubious distinction of being his genuine, real name.

The term “Tetsu” has many meanings, but when translated, he becomes Ironiron Ironiron, which is somewhat less stupid but still weird.

Didn’t his parents think about Benjamin at all?

7. Fluesy Bluesy Bluesy Fluesy Fluesy Fluesy

Bluesy Fluesy from Taboo Tattoo anime

Taboo Tattoo is an anime series about a tattoo that is considered taboo.

Here’s a selection from another anime about which I could have written a whole list (but which also contains the excellently cool Brad Blackstone).

Bluesy Fluesy, a tattoo by Taboo Tattoo, is almost childishly called.

It sounds like a nickname you’d give to someone you don’t care for in order to make fun of them. Not to mention the fact that “Fluesy” has a sound-alike term with equally negative implications!

In fact, I’m undecided about whether her pseudonym “Monday Rabbit” is a better or worse moniker.

While the action in this anime is fantastic, the name doesn’t quite live up to the hype.

Bork Cry is number six.

Bork Cry in Mobile Suit Gundam Series

Anime: Gundam Mobile Suit Series

This isn’t the Swedish Chef’s special assault; instead, it’s the name of a real figure.

Really, the Gundam series is a blessing. There are so many of these virtually arbitrarily created names peppered throughout it, and none of them made me laugh as hard as Bork Cry did the first time I heard it.

Though I’m hoping my editor will forgive me for somewhat cheating here: this character appears in two video games based on the Gundam anime series.

But, to be fair, take a look at that name! It has a place here!

5. Bajeena Quattro

Quattro Bajeena Mobile Suit Gundam anime screenshot

Anime: Gundam Mobile Suit

Okay, I pinky swear this is the final Gundam story!

This is not a given name, as followers of the series will know. Rather, Char Aznable, the series’ on-again, off-again adversary, has this name.

I mean, Char Aznable isn’t exactly a fantastic character.

Because it’s an alias rather than an actual name, I’ve given this one a higher ranking than the others.

Char had a wide range of options. Anything in the world is possible.

He went with Quattro Bajeena.

As a result, we have immortalized him here for his transgressions.

4. Kudos to the Pussyhand

Welldone the Pussyhand from Mardock Scramble anime

Mardock Scramble is a Japanese anime series.

“X by name, X by nature,” as the adage goes.

Let’s just say Mr. W Pussyhand isn’t called because his affinity for felines.

Welldone, in this world of cyborgs, assassins, and body-snatchers, has gone one step further and had a… shall we say “sensitive region” grafted into his hand.

Which leads me to wonder whether he got the moniker after that. Or was this the strangest example of nominative determinism ever?

Rururaruri (Rururaruri) (Rururaruri) Rurararirararururirirari Rirararururararururararirari

Rururaruri Rurararirararururirirari Rirararururararururararirari in Myriad Colors Phantom World

Anime: Phantom World of Myriad Colors

I’m not even going to try to write that out again.

If it’s okay with you, I’ll call her “Ruru” as she does in the episode.

Outside of this lovely mouthful of a name (besides the fact that it’s a harem anime), there’s not much about this harem anime that’s all that remarkable.

It appears out of nowhere in the second episode and is never repeated in its entirety!

If you want to hear it uttered, there’s a video on YouTube that makes me believe the voice actor made it up on the spot and the animation crew simply said, “yeah, let’s go with that.”

2. Bobobo-bo-bobo-bobo-bobo-bobo-bobo-bobo-bobo-

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo anime

Bobobo-bo is a Japanese animated television series. Bo-bobo

There isn’t a single thing in this anime that isn’t completely ridiculous – and I adore it.

We’d run out of space to mention everything that’s humorous, so we’ll just concentrate on the main character, who, by his own admission, prefers to be called Bo-bobo for short. Because he seems to despise everyone who does not believe he is completely mad.

To be honest, just looking at him makes you think twice before telling him how ridiculous his name is.

Especially when his nose-hair transforms into a fist and slams you in the face.

Please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

1. Jugem, Jugem, Jugem, Jugem, Jugem,

Jugem Jugem in Gintama anime

Gintama is a Japanese anime series.

At the risk of seeming to be padding my writing, I’ll just give the monkey Jugem Jugem’s full name once, along with a translation, and then let its magnificent oddity speak by itself.

Ready? “Jugemu Jugemu Unko Nageki Ototoi no Shin-chan no Pantsu Shinpachi no Jinsei Barumunku Fezarion Aizakku” is the complete name. Shunaidaa Sanbun no Ichi no Junjou na Kanjou no Nokotta Sanbun no Ni wa Sakamuke ga Kininaru Kanjou Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru you de Shiranai no wo Boku wa Shitteiru Rusu you de Shiranai no wo Boku wa Shitteiru Rusu you de Shiranai no wo Boku wa Shit Medaka Surume Medaka Kazunoko Koedame… Ikeno Medaka no Hou Dakara Raayu Kono Medaka wa Sakki to Chigau Yatsu Dakara Yuuteimiyaoukimukou Pepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepepe

Tell me that doesn’t have a right to be number one.
