God of War was released for PlayStation in 2005, but it costs $15 to purchase. The PC version is $60, and it’s better than the PS4 or Xbox One versions thanks to graphics improvements as well improved textures and added shadows compared to the original Sony release.

For fans on the fence about whether or not to upgrade to Santa Monica Studio and Jetpack Interactive’s new PC adaptation of the blockbuster game, ElAnalistaDeBits has posted a new graphical comparison video of God of War.
According to side-by-side comparisons featured in the video that highlight how the game looks under various quality settings and platforms, the PC version of the game seems to look far better than its PlayStation counterparts in areas such as texture quality and shadow detail. ElAnalistaDeBits’ video also shows how God of War appears with DLSS turned on, which is supposed to be superior than AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution option.
According to ElAnalistaDeBits, these are some major takeaways from the video:
- On PC, we can boost speed by up to 35 frames per second using DLSS or FSR. When reconstructing a picture from the same resolution, however, DLSS provides better image quality than FSR.
- The setting where this new edition of PC shines out the most is shading. It not only boosts the resolution, but it also adds certain shadows that aren’t present on consoles. On the PC, we may choose “Original” as a setting. Although the draw distance and certain textures are larger with this option on PC, it emulates the console configuration.
- The resolution of reflections and several textures has been improved.
- Some settings, such as geometry, have no aesthetic or performance influence in general.
- When combined with G-Sync/Freesync technology, Reflex significantly improves reaction time over the console version.
God of War, according to ElAnalistaDeBits, is the finest PC adaptation of a PlayStation game ever, a statement mirrored by other publications including Digital Foundry, which called it “sensational” in a recent tech analysis. Today, the action-adventure epic attracted over 60,000 concurrent players on Steam, where it is available for $49.99.
