The story began with a king and his daughter, who were saved from being sacrificed by an old man named “Stranger” (his true name was unknown). He revealed that he had been sent as the saviour of mankind to lead them out of their dark age. The people followed Stranger’s teachings for centuries until, in time, they all fell asleep. In order to keep humanity alive while they slept, Stranger kept creating life-forms called Espers which would protect humans while everyone else slumbered. Many years later when the planet threatened to be destroyed due to it becoming covered in ice; the espers created a magical spell known as Meteor that allowed the human race to survive once more…

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – Good, Bad and Hilariously Hemorable at the Same Time

REVIEW – This game’s title is one of those cliched names that I constantly forget. It’s like one of those mobile games where the makers make up title variants out of random words and then use what they think would work. The title will make sense towards the conclusion of the game, but we’ll have fought a lot with Turmoil — both the tale’s “evil force” and the chaos raging in game design, plot, and treasure system.

The term Final Fantasy Origin alludes to the game’s setting. Consider it a “alternative Final Fantasy 1,” in which individuals are drawn into the world by a mysterious power they are unaware of. Their memories are hazy, and all they recall is a desire to eliminate Chaos.

A Nioh-hoz hasonló játékok fejlesztése után a Stranger of Paradise esetében a Team Ninja árnyalta a videójátékok nehézségéről alkotott elképzelését.

Clichés abound, as do uninteresting heroes.

The above description may seem thrilling, but the fact is that we will not adore this game because of the tale or the heroes. Jack, the protagonist, is a total bore, behaving like a human terminator, spewing fantasy clichés and continuously reiterating that his job is to eliminate Chaos – something he can do at any time and in any context of the game. After being “stalked” by his two best friends, Jed and Ash, the three of them decide to band together and battle the great villain together, all because they had matching crystals.

In addition, the speech is too cheesy and verging on parody. Despite the somewhat more serious tone it reaches later in the novel, I don’t believe the story intends to take itself seriously. Who knows, maybe the creators were trying to poke fun at the main protagonists’ fixation with power and the typical Final Fantasy tropes. Or maybe they couldn’t think of anything else to say but this terrible conversation. Still, isn’t it possible that the game itself is enjoyable?

That is the question: Nioh or not Nioh.

Stranger of Paradise’s true triumph is its combat system. Team Ninja has spoiled us with gems like Ninja Gaiden and Nioh, so we’ve come to expect nothing less from them. While some may claim it has a souls-like feel to it, Team Ninja has gone away from that model in order to come closer to the classic action RPG. The biggest difference between this game and titles like Dark Souls or Nioh is the lack of an energy meter. By making battle quicker, more direct, and more dynamic, this game design choice alters the principles of fighting.

In fact, the fact that this game isn’t like the others in the genre is a welcome change of pace. Team Ninja has created a fighting system that is both challenging and exciting to play. While the fight is not challenging in concept, it is beneficial to study the enemy’s attack types and vulnerabilities in order to beat them.

Fighting is enjoyable and thrilling because it rewards you for mastering it, but it also punishes you if you make a mistake. Each adversary has a break bar, which is shattered by special skills and combinations. If you can achieve it, you’ll be able to absorb your opponent’s MP, allowing you to perform additional special strikes. If you miss and are beaten, your MP will be depleted.

Combat system that is both enjoyable and simple to master.

It’s worth noting that each weapon type has its own style of play, complete with its own set of combinations and talents to master. All of this is backed up by a complicated system that begins with conventional professions like swordsman, wizard, and ronin, all of which have skill trees that unlock the series’ famous higher classes. The greatest part is that you can swap occupations in the middle of a combat, giving you a lot of options during skirmishes.

Team Ninja recognized Stranger of Paradise would be a challenging game for Final Fantasy fans, particularly those who like turn-based combat (or possibly newer versions of it). That’s why they went to such pains to make the game as simple as possible to play.

Stranger of Paradise begins with three difficulty levels that you may choose between at practically any moment. Other aspects of the game make it simpler; for example, you will always have two buddies who will assist you by diverting adversaries and continually injuring them. While Stranger of Paradise is not the most difficult game to play, it may be difficult at times, particularly during boss encounters, and your allies are essential in these instances.

This image is a generation or two late.

If you’ve been following the game and watching the trailers and images, you’ve probably noticed one of Stranger of Paradise’s early flaws: the aesthetics and art. You have to agree, the visuals and visual quality of this game are on par with those from a generation or two ago, or, if we’re being nice, action-RPGs from the beginning of the previous generation. The majority of the time, you’ll encounter dark, mediocre, or outright bad texture quality, as well as some performance concerns. The aesthetic of the original Final Fantasy is recognizable, but only in a cheesy, clichéd sense.

While we’ve applauded several parts of the game’s gameplay, we believe the loot system is a mess. Stranger of Paradise may sometimes toss weapons and armour components at you to make your characters stronger or more affine. That’s OK; the issue is that you’re given so many weapons, with so few improvements, that repeatedly strapping them on is both monotonous and futile. The worst aspect is that there’s an inventory limit, so you’ll have to take time between missions to get rid of the stuff you’ve gathered in order to upgrade your weaponry.

So, how does this “Paradise” work? Is it fresh, delicious, or spoiled?

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be regarded as a genuinely “memorable” game in the series and in our memory – both positively and negatively. Some aspects of it are absurdly bad (the plot and the loot system), but if you can get beyond those problems and learn to appreciate it, you’ll discover a game that will keep you entertained for hours, particularly if you prefer action RPGs with well-developed combat and advancement systems.

We wouldn’t be shocked if Stranger of Paradise becomes a cult classic in a few years, and there are people who would fight to the death to protect it. We enjoyed it, but it would be irresponsible of us to overlook all of its flaws. We’ll see where it goes in game history.

Pro:

+ A fun, fast-paced fighting system and gameplay + A well-developed character tree and progression system + Dynamic gameplay

Against:

– Graphics are two generations behind – – Overwhelming treasure system, with bags of weapons and armour – A tale so ridiculous it’s a mockery of itself (maybe it is) –
